Things that need to happen by 2024:
A pro-freedom, pro-market get-out-the-vote campaign. The ground game has not always been great for the right, but George W managed to pull it off. Needs to be something to work against Mr. Zuckerberg’s funding of deep-blue county voting departments, though doing the same thing in red counties may not have the desired effects, as most in government jobs, even in very red locales, tend to be filled by the left of center.
A pro-freedom, pro-market outreach program, to sway swing voters in a non-threatening (read: lasting) way. Sell much of the Trump program, but in a calmer way.
Right of center entrepreneurs need to go after the news market in a big way, to show the world what truly honest reporting looks like and make fortunes from same, by making it something people honestly want to watch/read/hear/neural-download. Maybe that is Newsmax and maybe it isn’t, but there seems to be a lot of room for entry in the local news market, so something like what AOL-Patch tried to pull off, only much better.
Right of center entrepreneurs need to create credible alternatives to the current social media providers. Tunnel under, over, and around, except that it is very difficult to tunnel over.
On that subject, maybe an information campaign can be aimed at Silicon Valley shareholders, letting them know more than they probably do now, as to what their companies have been up to with their money. Not all of them will be happy about it.
Just my thoughts, full in the realization that I have not the ability or bandwidth to do any of it.
It seems the dogs chase the car, and caught it. Now, what?
The dem are going to have govern, dems have demonstrated they can’t, they seem to going full steam towards a recession, If they do, it seems we going to a recall on a California governor, and perhaps others,
What is needed, frankly, is a new nationalist-populist political party that can draw enough votes from both the feckless Republicans and the elitist Democrats to consign both extant major parties to permanent minority status/extinction. The Trump coalition, in other words, needs to go its own way and expand.
No. The third party siren song must be resisted at all cost. That path leads to marginalization and extinction. Just ask Perot.
That’s the second idiotic post you’ve made this week Jim. Maybe you’re really the “other Jim” …
No, the way we conduct elections guarantees that with more than 2 strong parties you end up splitting the vote. Unless you can get a change away from plurality voting, better to take over a party from the inside.
Eric, the left didn’t achieve political power via the third party route. They took over the Democratic Party. That’s the path to political power in this country.
A Trump third party accomplishes nothing but fracturing the conservative vote and guaranteeing democratic victories.
Third parties are a political dead end.
Between 1968 and 1972, the Socialists took over the Democrat party. It worked from their perspective.
Success should be emulated. A third party is guaranteed to fail before it can get started. Take over the Republican Party from within.
With the wreckage of the 1972 McGovern Campaign I distinctly remember multiple TV news segments covering the new strategy: The Rainbow Coalition.
The Southern Dixiecrats were OUT. The long unhappy marriage between them and the Leftist Wing could be discarded. The long knives came out and any “moderate Democrat” would be purged as soon as it became convenient… If you were NON-white, academic leftist, labor union or Big City Welfare then the Democratic Party wanted you.
The RepubliClowns have until 2022 to wake the Hell up. Meanwhile, the RepubliCons will offer China the rope with which to hang us, at an attractive discount…
