As Robert Heinlein demonstrated it there are limitations to your ability to govern space colonies when you live at the bottom of a deep gravity well.
Wasn’t the original Plymouth colony arrangement socialist in its details, the colonists almost starved, and they changed it to support ownership of private property and things straightened out?

If Forbes says this is true, there must be some basis? So Plymouth Colony was a foundational American experience in what initially did not work?
