Yes, but does the good law professor have anything to say about space-resource and asteroid-mineral property rights?
He does. His own prediction is that asteroid mining is more likely to succeed as part of a a big Earth-orbit construction plan.
Glenn also talks about the bi-partisan support for recognizing property rights in what someone mines. Obama signed the 2015 law recognizing those rights, and a recent Trump Executive Order (IIRC) voiced strong support as well.
“Spiritual case. Most importantly, Reynolds makes the spiritual case for the benefits of a frontier on the American and human psyche. ”
I think this could the most important aspect of space settlements.
Though I think Space settlements, has to lead to Earth having SPS- which is also quite important.
But problem is I think we know if we have Mars settlements.
But I think what more central, is we don’t know if the Moon has mineable water. If Moon has mineable water {and make and sell rocket fuel}, we will have settlements, somewhere in Space.
And if Mars is viable for settlements, we will get settlements in other places than Mars. Mars seems like it could accelerate, having space settlements.
If starting from somewhere, Venus {orbit} is faster and easier to get to Mars as compared to Earth. Venus also better place to start from, if want to go anywhere in our solar system. And Venus sky has advantages, despite it’s near Earth gravity.
