The Best And The Brightest

Sheila Jackson “Did the Mars rover see the Apollo site?” Lee is one of the stupidest people on the Hill (and that’s pretty stiff competition).

  1. The US Has Reportedly Begun Blood Tests to Hunt Down Immunity to Coronavirus
“Instead, they look for whether certain antibodies are present in the blood which shows that the person fought and then recovered from the illness – even if they never showed symptoms.

These tests are seen as key to gradually easing lockdown, by allowing those who have proven immunity to re-enter society.”

  2. –Figuring out who is immune is essential. “The whole country is waiting for a good antibody test. We’re operating with blinders on now,” said one researcher.

“Blood tests for antibodies to the novel coronavirus will be “foundational, fundamental,” to sending Californians back to work, California Gov. Gavin Newsom said on Monday. But medical experts caution that there’s still a lot we don’t know about whether the tests are reliable enough to ensure people’s safety.

Testing people’s blood for antibodies may help determine who already had the disease and has recovered. But just because someone tests positive for antibodies doesn’t necessarily mean they are immune to the virus – or that they will remain that way over time.”

Yes we don’t know, but if antibodies don’t mean we are immune to it, that is argument to end lock down right.
We are simply unable to stop this virus there is no world where we make this virus go extinct and the lock down effort is not vaguely trying to do this.

There is a way, we do a China, but do it much harder and much longer {years} and still probably would not work- and of course billions of people die. And not from virus. Or very dumb.
Or just hunt down and kill everyone spewing the virus, or nuke from orbit. Probably, slightly, less dumb.

  3. It might interesting to test immunity on population that could not gotten this virus. Submarine crews or something like that- find out who has immunity without being exposed to virus.

    1. That is an entirely different animal, as they say.

There is some data to suggest that the virus isn’t nearly as contagious, or whereas some persons may not be immune in an antibody sense, they may be more resistant to it in some manner of cell receptor sense.

The bad news if this is so is that the death rate as a percentage of those catching remains high (over 1%) and that there are a lot of us who haven’t caught it yet, which puts sands in the gears of getting everyone back at their workplace again.

      1. Right now, it’s at 2.3%. Testing results lag deaths by at least several days, though. In WA, it’s 4.6%.

It is nice to see the total number tests performed. Over two million tests have been done. Quite the ramp up from a couple weeks ago. I guess this is why the media has shifted their attacks on testing.

  4. ABC’s Jon Karl, for example, had some harsh words for Acosta in his own recently published book, Front Row at the Trump Show.

Jon Karl is a weasel that exemplifies what is wrong with our media. These reporters are so sleazy in how they phrase and frame their questions.

  5. Meanwhile, back in the real world, Have two people I work with that have just returned from 2 weeks self isolation. No Wuflu test though. Other tests were negative so that just leaves around 10,000 other things it could have been.

If we wait for the experts to be sure that they can’t be blamed for anything, mass starvation will be the problem, not the Wuflu.

As all of this was starting, the anniversary of the Battle of the Somme came up. No one postponed it until tanks and flack jackets could be perfected.
