Oh come on, this is a preposterous waste of time.
If we did detect an asteroid on a collision course, and the president presumed to order it deflected, you’d have screams of “Xenophobic hysteria!” from top Democrats, who would then move to strip the president of his power to undertake such an unwelcoming (and racist!) act.
Because, diversity and inclusiveness matter. That includes asteroids, not just virus-carrying foreigners from an epidemic zone.
