I thought I’d posted this, but we’ve lost a giant of math, physics, philosophy and space. Condolences to Esther and the rest of the family. I just saw her at the space transportation conference a few weeks ago.
From over two decades ago, here’s an interview of him by Stewart Brand.
Lots of comments over at Instapundit.
You did post it, I learned of his passing here yesterday.
Weird, not sure why I’m not seeing it.
It disappeared for me too.
Sad. But fate.
His passing leaves us with an intellectual vacuum.
I think that to have stood out in physics in the 20th century like he did will remain a singular distinction for a very long time.
Freeman Dyson stood out for his scientific skepticism, as attested two years ago when we talked about his “take” on the “global warming/climate change/climate emergency” non-debate because keep quiet and believe the “experts.”

A true genius and champion of rational thinking….

…which may explain why the BBC have not mentioned his passing 🙁
