One thought on “Homeschoolers”
The list runs real thin when it comes to advantages of most public schools. Sure, there’s some out there of outstanding quality. There’s also some that are a cross between say a prison and a baby sitting service.
One of the most commonly touted advantages is “socialization”. I gather the idea is that hanging out with people of your age cohort for a dozen years or so is supposed to help you develop valuable socialization skills which somehow can’t be developed via home schooling. But just how valuable is socialization with a narrow age group in a often dysfunctional environment? What sort of skills are you really developing?
