Were they followed in the FISA-court applications to surveil Carter Page?
It would strongly appear to be not. I think I’m looking forward to Horowitz’s report. And Mueller’s testimony to Congress, when he’s questioned by people who care about the rule of law (i.e., not the Democrats).
Republicans: FISA will only be used for legitimate law enforcement purposes, like going after terrorists.
Democrats: It will be abused to target political dissidents.
Republicans: No it wont.
Democrats: Oh yeah? Watch us.
I’m not holding my breath waiting on the prosecutions of the coup to come rolling in. Maybe Trump’s much maligned character will get something moving but I doubt a GOPe type like Romney would do anything to protect the country on this matter.
I think the Dems’ objections were along the lines of “Don’t throw us in the brier patch!”
FISA is ripe for abuse. We should all consider how that can be used against us.
