Their launch window opened this morning at 7 AM. I’d thought about driving up, but it’s going to be pretty cold up there, and I didn’t think the weather would cooperate. It did turn out that they scrubbed. I think Friday’s the most likely day now, because another storm is coming through tonight and tomorrow.

Question for the launch watchers: Do you always schedule some other activity to do when you travel to a launch since scrubs/delays are so common?

I saw the two pilots with some heavy-duty oxygen masks strapped to their faces.
Is this “pressure breathing” apparatus? If so, how is that supposed to help if they leak their cabin pressure at altitude? Weren’t X-15 as well as SR-71 pilots wearing full pressure suits?
