I suspect that AOC will be successfully primaried after this latest jamming of both feet in her mouth. She just cost her constituents a lot of jobs.

  1. If she pegs the meter, Omar must be capable of destroying the needle. While “questioning” Eliot Adams, and literally reading from prepared notes, she refers to the Iran-Corta affair. At least she didn’t say Iran-Cortez affair; she caught herself quickly enough to prevent that gaff. I hope she replaces the inept staffer who wrote the notes with someone more well-versed in Somali.

    Kind of interesting that Minneapolis and Detroit (Rashida Tlaib) have embraced Muslim representation in DC, but Chicago, with more than five times the population of either, has yet to discover that wonderfulness. I wonder if the Jewish population of Chicago is playing a role. Any Chicago Jews out there who’d care to weigh in?

    2. Or, in her case, maleducated. Bolshevik Barbie reportedly has a degree in economics from Boston College. Despite that, or more likely because of it, she seems to actually believe this nonsense. Like Obama, she may be book smart but she read the wrong books.

    This didn’t just happen.

    The socialist comeback has been ascribed to the war in Iraq, financial crisis, post-crash job market, student debt, high cost of homeownership, and rise of Donald Trump.

    No, these are things people talk about but the ascendance of socialism is because of the conscious, deliberate, and incremental destruction of our cultural norms. That isn’t to say our political class hasn’t been doing poorly but it is to say it ignores the agency of others actions.

    Incrementalism is a big part of progressive marxism. Millions of people engaging in activism across government, business, education, and civics lead to small but consistent gains that are hard to roll back but also any one thing is hard to link together with the others and with an overarching strategy. You aren’t supposed to notice consciously, just subconsciously as you are nudged along.

    You might remember a couple occasions where Obama or other people said that he came too soon, did things too early, or that America wasn’t quite ready. This was the conflict of incrementalism with seizing power while it was there but could possibly be rolled back.

    Marxism is ascendant because they have been tenaciously working at it all while convincing the public, especially our friends to the left, that it doesn’t exist.

  8. She’s making a string of blunders that are making even liberal Democrats realize that she’s not just young, naive, or committed; she really is just stupid.

    Anyway, I think New York should offer me a trillion dollars in tax breaks to move there (perhaps no taxes on me for the next billion years), and when I refuse to move they’ll have a trillion extra dollars to spend! And I’ll do it, too, if they’ll kick me maybe a billion of the windfall under the table.

    Do you ever wonder not if, but how many times, AOC has bought the Brooklyn Bridge?
