Nerve Stimulation

…may help with female sexual dysfunction.

Isn’t sex itself nerve stimulation?

[Friday-evening update]

This seems sort of related: Custom sex dolls.

This seems to me like the ultimate expression of free-market capitalism. I found the kicker interesting:

“You have to find beauty in imperfection,” Krivicke says as he takes the mannequin head back from me.

I’ve noticed over the years that, when I get to know someone, and I come to like them, they grow increasingly interesting and physically attractive, even if I didn’t find them so initially.

  1. Is it true that many men (and probably many women) just aren’t very good in the sack?

Since I started working at Cosmo, my female friends have thought it’s perfectly fine to share details of their sexual encounters with me. What I hear is horrifying. “We had sex last night. I didn’t come,” is the most common theme in these conversations. It turns out, any guy who puts forth the care and effort to bring a woman to orgasm is basically considered a unicorn, even if he is a convicted felon or Shia LaBeouf. But, pathetically, guys who want to or actually succeed in getting a woman to climax are just depressingly rare.

    1. *Snort* Cosmopolitan articles rank with the World News Daily’s glossy cover photos showing the whereabouts of Bat Boy™. They have been advising women on how to get the “Perfect Orgasm” for over thirty years — evidently with little success.

    1. My Magic 8 Ball says that R&D will be funded by the Roman Catholic Church, on the grounds that preventing divorces is the greater good.

  2. All amusement aside, it’s fascinating that good results are achieved via nerve stimulation at the ankle, and overlap of nerves running to the spinal cord cause crosstalk such that the bladder muscles are strengthened from a substantial distance. This is probably useful for several reasons- the electrodes can be applied to dry reasonably tough skin rather than delicate mucous membranes, there probably is a greater safety margin between therapeutic and damaging current levels, and the patient’s stress level is MUCH lower while the technician applies the electrodes.

And we all know Lazarus Long’s advice to rub her feet.

    1. The Chinese have been pushing Reflexology and Pressure Points (Acupuncture etc.) for centuries. It would be fascinating to discover there was actually some validity to them. With modern instrumentation we could actually see…

Why, Rand, you dog… Now I know why you look so longingly at me.

  4. I think the reason why we haven’t detected intelligent alien life is that once they perfect sexbots, they never invent anything else again, ever.
