John McCain served his country well in Vietnam. My condolences to his family and friends. I wish that he had never been in politics.

[Update a while later]
Thoughts from Jim Treacher about a “humorous” take on McCain’s death.
Agree with the tweet Rand.
I actually probably agreed with McCain on more policy issues than I disagreed with him on but on the ones which I disagreed with him it was vehemently. His service to the United States as a Naval Aviator is unquestionable however and as such he was a bonafide American Hero.
Question 30. Look ahead in the future for 10 years. What is the life you MOST FEAR that you will be living then?
Living in a long-term care facility with progressive neurological disease (maybe not in 10, but a high likelihood in 20?) . . .
Wait, there is more to this fear.
. . . and not having a choice but to listen to the style of country music they play at the dental practice I go to.
Yeah, that’s another thing about that list of questions. When I look ahead to my future, it is no longer about what I could be. I’ve done much of it. I’m seeing my upcoming decline. You can be a pilot with golden wings, POW survivor, and a US Senator, but that doesn’t mean anything when facing a neurological disease.
