After all these years of advocating for it, I’m happy with how much traction the concept is finally getting.

It seems to me that the Space Guard as described in this article is complimentary to a Space Force, rather than an alternative to it. Perhaps both are needed. The concept of the Space Force, as I understand it, is to have an independent military command focused on ensuring that our potential adversaries could not deny us use of our space assets, which have become essential for all aspects of our military and civilian sectors.
Yup

I am partial to Astroguard myself.
“SPACE CORPS” sounds good to me
A Space Force isn’t a first in militarizing space but rather a reaction to a theatre that is already militarized. It would be helpful if people who write or are interviewed, who often know this, would properly frame it. We need a greater awareness of how space has already been militarized by our competitors.
Space Force is just so prosaic. How about the United States Solar Guard? Snazzy black and gold uniforms for the officers!
