Thoughts from David Harsanyi:
It’s difficult to take this spurious reasoning seriously, but simply because you think you detect some trace parallels between what Nazis engaged in and contemporary politics doesn’t make them comparable in any important way. The Nazis adopted a bunch of socialist policies, but that doesn’t mean Bernie Sanders is a would-be Himmler.
Admittedly, there is huge space in-between zero tolerance and lawlessness at the border. But none of the positions that have been taken in American political discourse so far portends the Fourth Reich. Switzerland and Japan, to name just two liberal democracies, have far stricter immigration laws than the United States, and neither is on the cusp of fascism. Simply because the arbitrary number of allowable immigrants you’ve come up with differs from that of your political opponent doesn’t make that person a budding sociopath.
I've never seen a week in which the Holocaust, Nazis, Dred Scott and Korematsu were so trivialized.

Ah, for the good ol’ days when Godwin’s Law was invoked any time anyone anywhere tried to invoke the German National Socialist Workers Party or its leader’s name or what they did when they were in power. Something about doing that meant the person had lost the argument.
Godwin’s Law only applies to Republicans calling out leftists on actually being like Hitler. Godwin himself defended the baseless attacks of NAZI against the GOP to me in a tweet. It is one of those rules which is meant to silence and only be applied selectively.
Advocates of a Bigger and More Powerful State (including draconic gun laws) viewing National Socialism with alarm . . . priceless. Almost as good as the MSNBC airhead who compared Trump to King George III. Yeah, when it comes to statism, I’m sure she’s a regular Tom Paine.
George III made Ron Paul look like Joachim von Ribbentrop. Where’s my time machine?
The Nazis adopted a bunch of socialist policies, but that doesn’t mean Bernie Sanders is a would-be Himmler.
I am not so sure about that but he is probably more like the gateway that brings a ruthless ruler to power. I’ve seen the things the marxist wing of the Democrat party say about people and what they want to do. I have no doubt there would be massive abuses of government power to impoverish and disenfranchise opponents from society and that prison camps wouldn’t be far behind. Not to mention roving lynch mobs in every city.
A lot of these things we already have and it wouldn’t take much to pass a tipping point since the Democrat have whipped themselves into a zealous rage of moral obligation to do the things mentioned above.
You mean like spying on political opponents and then arresting and jailing aids on process crimes, while excusing major state crimes as simple administrative issues?
I just read Kurt Schlichter’s “Indian Country” and “People’s Republic” where the US splits into red states and blue (the People’s Republic). Looking more likely every day.
I worry about the United States because it has been a beacon of Liberty and if it goes out humanity will descend into the darkness of various kinds of hard and soft tyranny (The EU is an example of the latter).
I agree with Wodun, the leftists are only not like Nazis because they don’t yet have unfettered power. Everywhere they do, they turn into Nazis.
I’m also reading Martin van Creveld’s “Hitler in Hell”. Nice way to learn of the rise of the Nazis. Recommended.
Like the planned community that SNL calls “The Bubble”?

“Switzerland and Japan, to name just two liberal democracies, have far stricter immigration laws than the United States, and neither is on the cusp of fascism.”
But, you don’t understand, they’tr not trying to import hordes of government dependent *voters*, who will reliably *vote* for ever more government spending and control over the individual. They’re also not involved in a deliberate attempt to overwhelm and transform the existing culture into, well, into *anything* other than what it has been, because its evil.
“Simply because the arbitrary number of allowable immigrants you’ve come up with differs from that of your political opponent doesn’t make that person a budding sociopath.”
YES IT DOES! YES IT DOES! YES IT DOES!!! Stop saying things I don’t like and disagree with! You’re making me feel unsafe, and that’s not allowed in a democracy!
