I was at the Space Settlement Summit all day yesterday, and will be all day today as well, with a non-functioning laptop. I will be tweeting occasionally from my phone, however, and I’ll probably have some overall thoughts on the event tomorrow.

Rand-
You say your laptop is non-functional. How did your experiment with a tablet and full-sized keyboard turn out?
See other reply. I still haven’t resolved the issue, because I haven’t tried it with an Android tablet.
I *have* used a (wired) mouse with an Android tablet (Samsung Tab S2) and it worked, btw. Can’t remember if I mentioned that before.
Did you ever see about getting a lightning-to-USB OTG adapter, so you could use a keyboard with your iPad?
I got a bluetooth keyboard for it, which worked all right. The problem was that it wouldn’t talk to a bluetooth mouse (but my android phone would). Anyway, the iPad was hers, not mine, so that’s not a permanent solution, since I have zero intention of getting one (particularly since it is allergic to mice).
Apparently Apple won’t let you use a BT mouse with an iPad.
How would you use a mouse on a display that lacks a cursor?
Beats me. Android phones don’t have cursors either…until you plug in a mouse.
I used the BT keyboard and mouse on my Android phone. iPad said FU to the mouse. #WeDontNeedNoStinkinMouses
At home, I plug my iPhone into an (hdmi) monitor then use the iPhone as the mouse pad. That, together with a bluetooth keyboard, works pretty well. I particularly like the shortcuts that are available with the keyboard, so that — in particular — Cmd-Z works as “undo” and you don’t need to pick up and shake the iPhone.
Get back soon. Interested in your take on the BE-4. Or, any others of you out there.
I just took a look at the “Summit” agenda. Thin gruel…
I don’t go to these things for the agenda. I go to them to influence agenda(s) for future things.
Good luck with that, there.

Not only is there a cursor, but a mouse icon in the bar up top, to the left of the alarm one.
Apple may be getting closer to an iDevice mouse. CarPlay in the Acura uses not a touchscreen but Acura’s cursor control to actuate the various items.
