Whether it is church-goeers, or SJWs, or Trump supporters, or even risk-averse engineers at NASA, people are susceptible to group-think.
SJW-ism IS group-think. You MUST think the politically correct way about everything, or you will be attacked.
But, now the right have stopped caring about what the left think, they’re having to find enemies in their own midst to attack instead. It’s wonderful to watch them eat each other.
It isn’t that you must agree with all the dogma but that you must meet the enthusiasm hurdle to show your true devotion. Like watching people clap and smile in NK.
“Burn the witch!” is a little more than just groupthink.
Like what? Just so we agree on terms, here’s the first two paragraphs from Wikipedia. I found them interesting – there were aspects I hadn’t considered. YMMV, but note that the last sentence.
Groupthink is a psychological phenomenon that occurs within a group of people in which the desire for harmony or conformity in the group results in an irrational or dysfunctional decision-making outcome. Group members try to minimize conflict and reach a consensus decision without critical evaluation of alternative viewpoints by actively suppressing dissenting viewpoints, and by isolating themselves from outside influences.
Groupthink requires individuals to avoid raising controversial issues or alternative solutions, and there is loss of individual creativity, uniqueness and independent thinking. The dysfunctional group dynamics of the “ingroup” produces an “illusion of invulnerability” (an inflated certainty that the right decision has been made). Thus the “ingroup” significantly overrates its own abilities in decision-making and significantly underrates the abilities of its opponents (the “outgroup”). Furthermore, groupthink can produce dehumanizing actions against the “outgroup”.

Really, do you think your opponents here are going to allow Wikipedia define anything political?
*tl;dr
Ha ha!
Funny, that’s why we created the Constitution–you know, the one that Barry Goldwater loved.
I think he is saying that the problem is more than just your typical gruopthink.
I would add that rather than trying to say that the Democrats are not unique in this, that what we are seeing is very much unique to Democrats. The Democrat ideology is based on groupthink, or in other words, identity politics and dehumanizing out groups to lower inhibition and create divine obligation to attacking them whether with laws or fists.
For someone so fluent in SJWese, this young man is certainly struggling to find a world view that seems reasonable, and shows considerable moral courage in putting it in writing. I wish him well.
I think that calling “him” a “man” may be a microaggression.
I noticed this peculiar comment:
She urged us to set aside our distrust and critique of newer activists and accept that they will hurt and disappoint you. Don’t shut them out because their politics are outdated or they don’t wield the same language.
You have to wonder how screwed up a movement is that the newer people are perceived as having the old ideas. Who will bring in the new ideas, if your newcomers aren’t doing that?
Who needs new ideas? The old ones are fine; they just haven’t been properly implemented.
For me, feminism is best exemplified by Marlo Thomas’ 1972 ground breaking children’s album “Free To Be You And Me”. Alan Alda is on it. So is the NFL’s Rosey Grier.(*) I play it for my kids, we all love it. But I can see how it might be seen as a bit outdated by younger feminists. Eh, so what? Some old ideas ARE fine.
(*) Rosey Grier is running to be the next Republican Governor of California.
Oh, good God, that bilge that grade school children were forced to watch? That piece is nothing but utter propaganda forced on impressionable minds.
Please, I suggest everybody watch that POS film to see how early the SJWs were infiltrating our system.
Jon, thanks for the link! I don’t enjoy the movie quite as much as the record (the movie has too much Mel Brooks for my taste), but it is more accessible that way.
For the majority who aren’t going to watch the whole thing, here’s the most feminist message, as sung by Harry Belafonte and Marlo Thomas (that hottie!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPfgCeawIOQ

Mommies are people, people with children
When mommies were little, they used to be girls
Like some of you, but then they grew
And now mommies are women, women with children
Busy with children, and things that they do
There are a lot of things a lot of mommies can do
Some mommies are ranchers, or poetry makers
Or doctors or teachers, or cleaners or bakers
Some mommies drive taxis, or sing on TV
Yeah, mommies can be almost anything they want to be
Well, they can’t be grandfathers, or daddies
Daddies are people, people with children
When daddies were little, they used to be boys
Like some of you, but then they grew
And now daddies are men, men with children
Busy with children, and things that they do
There are a lot of things a lot of daddies can do
Some daddies are writers, or grocery sellers
Or painters or welders, or funny-joke tellers
Some daddies play cello, or sail on the sea
Yeah, daddies can be almost anything they want to be
They can’t be grandmas or mommies
Parents are people, parents are people
People with children, people with children
When parents were little, they used to be kids
Like all of you, but then they grew
And now parents are grown-ups, parents are grown-ups
Grown-ups with children, grown-ups with children
Busy with children, and things that they do
There are a lot of things a lot of mommies
And a lot of daddies, and a lot of parents can do

Jon, which part of the message is objectionable garbage for you?
I’ll just do what you do, Bob. Throw out a link and refuse to answer any questions:
Adjective
objectionable (comparative more objectionable, superlative most objectionable)
Arousing disapproval; worthy of objection; offensive.
Before removing objectionable material, you’ll have to decide what will offend people.
I hope you watched a few videos from those youtube channels I linked the last time feminism came up. The people in them are classical liberals who might normally be Democrats but detest the authoritarian SJW activism that dominates the party.
Pretty enlightening POVs if you ware unaware of what the Democrat base is up to.
For some fields, grad school is like this. New grad students are sometimes the products of a undergrad experience where teaching is done by TAs and in any case, they haven’t been exposed to the newest ideas developed by the researchers in the lab they just joined, so they have to be brought up to speed.
Probably just what we would consider more normal Democrats deciding to get involved and then being shocked by how their activists actually behave. This is why the DNC media is always careful not to give the activists any detailed coverage or subject them to investigative journalism.
Useful idiots have to be kept uniformed to be controlled.
Its like the people been sitting on their couch the last thirty years are being called to activism (protest) against Trump. Their politics could very well be outdated. The Democrat party of the past is not the same one on the streets today.
It’s more a case of leaving a church and then joining a cult, and the author of that piece is finding out the hard way what the differences are between those two things.
“Liberals” (and by that I mean of course “tax-happy, coercion-addicted, power-tripping State fellators”) celebrating a book–or even the concept–“Free to Be You and Me” is deliciously ironic. They should have called the book, “Free to Be You and Me . . . if it’s for the Common Good and Big Brother allows it.”
