It is pretty ridiculous to claim that Israel was built by Palestinians.
What’s ridiculous is the Israelis giving back the territory in a war they didn’t start. True civilization is when the bad guys suffer from their acts rather than being awarded.
I disagree. I’m extremely proud of the USA for its occupation of Germany, and, particularly, Japan. Imposing a constitution on Japan, forcing them to live with it for a fairly short period until they (particularly the newly emancipated women) could see the constitution’s benefits, and then allowing them their freedom, including the freedom to junk the constitution, was pretty brilliant. It rewarded Japan and it rewarded the US. Naturally, it didn’t reward “the bad guys”, but you need to define “bad guys” as narrowly as possible.
With Israel though, they gave land that previously belonged to Israel. The West Bank was part of Israel until their Muslim neighbors tried to exterminate the Jews, same with Gaza.
Most of the Islamic population in those areas is not native to Isreal but were migrant workers during and after the fall of the Ottoman Empire, much like workers in Gaza and the West Bank travel to into Israel to work.
At the end of WWI countries who lost gave up land. I am not sure why some people are so interested in siding with the Axis powers and a Muslim Caliphate.
Are you completely blind to the difference between your example and mine, Bob?
“Rewarded” I meant to say. It is the ‘civilized’ that make the barbarians by coddling them.
The narrative of the Oppressed Other is hard to resist for most professional journalists.
Yo Bobby, the US didn’t give Germany back to the Nazi’s. Moreover, the US and other allies divided up Germany and gave a large chunk of the land to the USSR, which held onto it for nearly 50 years. Crack a history book some day.
