Why they are at least as moral as wages. This kind of irrationality is more than partly a consequence of the failure of the public-education system. Or its success, depending on one’s point of view.

People were fine with profit until we got these Apple/Google/Amazon phenomenons where they park their profits overseas and don’t pay their taxes.
It’s just like the Communists said. Big corporations types are all globalists and don’t care one iota about their fellow countrymen.
They do that because the US stupidly has the highest corporate tax rate in the world.
Not really. It’s just that whatever the rate is it’s higher than 0%. They don’t even pay Ireland taxes and there the corporate tax rate is effectively 12.5%. Several places in the US have low corporate taxes. e.g. Delaware, Vermont, and Reno Nev.
California isn’t one of those places but like I said here once the same gimmicks that allow a small state to have these sorts of tax schemes don’t apply to a larger state like California. e.g. in the Caymans you have to pay a tax to stay in a hotel or to rent scuba gear but you don’t pay income tax. In Monaco the government gets its income from the Casino.
It’s not exactly a strategy that scales well. And the Caymans and Monaco have their defense provided by someone else (the British Empire and France respectively).
Really? So when a corporation is headquartered in Delaware, it doesn’t pay insane FEDERAL corporate taxes?

Not really.
Yes really. If they repatriate overseas earnings, they pay an insane federal corporate tax rate (and if to California, even more).
It’s not an earning. It’s a royalty payment for IP owned by an off-shore company they also own for tech they actually developed in California. So it counts as an expense.
The only profits they can “park overseas” are the ones they earn overseas. Every dollar they earn in the US is subject to ridiculously high tax rates.
No, it’s funneled through their offices (actually their lawyer) in Reno, Nevada:

We also know the New York Times pays no taxes.
Well of course. Our betters, the nobility, don’t pay taxes.
Godzilla,
Out of curiosity, if you agree with me, then why do you advocate centralized banking policies that reinforce everything with which you disagree?
People were fine with profit until
“Money is the root of all evil” was not coined five years ago. There’s always been a type of person who is completely not fine with profit even to point of hurting people in order to make sure profit doesn’t happen.
The actual Biblical quote is “For the LOVE OF money is the root of all evil” – 1 Timothy 6:10
Just another example of something they can’t be reasoned out of because they weren’t reasoned into it.
Water’s World should ask the question: which is more moral, profits or wages? Assuming they can parse the question it would be interesting to hear the answers.
I swear I didn’t replace Rand with a pod person that sounds like Trump. Really I didn’t.
In related news, the internet commenter calling himself “Godzilla” had just been delegated the job of “Assistant Supreme Being” by the deity sometimes known as “Yahweh.” Mr. Godzilla will monitor who is making the “right kind” of profit, and who isn’t. People in the latter category will be forced by Mr. Godzilla to “hand it over, or die.”
Remember, folks, there’s no arguing religion–especially with THESE theocrats: https://grrrgraphics.files.wordpress.com/2011/01/shrine_of_the_statists1.jpg
Sure. I’ll start by reasserting that we don’t like money changers here.
You should drive them out with a whip of cords. You know, provided whips of cords are legal and registered.
You could poke an eye out.
Lashing or whipping people is racist.
Money changing itself isn’t the evil. Charging a ridiculous fee/rate to do it is.
The political structure supporting the money changers by forcing the exchange was also a problem.
Good read and a common topic of discussion these days. Too many people are disassociated from where their paycheck comes from.
Why would a Ranger value business and profits when they get their paycheck from the government? Perhaps because they really get their paycheck from taxpayers. Is there a recognition from government employees of how beneficial this relationship is? It seems mostly like entitlement rather than gratitude that comes across.
The other interesting thing about that post, is it illustrates the battle for access to public lands. Environmentalist groups and their partners in government keep pushing people they don’t like off of public lands. As we saw with how OWS and regular Americans (barrycades ect) were treated by the Obama administration, when the left says its public land, they really mean its Democrat land.
Who are the fascists again?
It belongs to everyone you capitalistic pig!!! If evil business people owned it they could use it as collateral to open or expand business and exploit the worker by giving them jobs.
Then there’s the tax code. These are the people that wanted to give Tom Daschle a new govt. job.
