A climate skeptic has filed a civil RICO lawsuit against a bunch of Leftist NGOs. Discovery will be very interesting, if it’s not dismissed.

Any idea about the judge and likelihood to dismiss?
I hope this goes!
Popehat has all sorts of nasty things to say about people who don’t understand the limitations on RICO. I’d like to hear what he has to say about this.

Was this vetted by a lawyer, or did the plaintiff submit it himself? If the latter, oh boy.
IDK, seems like worst case, it gets tossed.
“To win, a plaintiff would have to prove (1) conduct, (2) of an enterprise, (3) through a pattern, (4) of racketeering activity called “predicate acts,” (5) causing injury to the plaintiff’s “business or property.””
It looks from the excerpts on WUWT that this RICO claim actually does cover the 5 parts listed above. Of course, the whole claim is not available for us to see so it isn’t possible to see whether the claim has merit
Point 5) alone would be really tenuous to show. Glancing at the WUWT story, I’m leery of this:
I suppose a case could be made for writing under a pseudonym. But there’s a certain level of deception involved when you’re also presenting that pseudonym as your real name to people hosting your words.
Publicity stunt.
