I like the question going around the Internet on the pro-freedom blogosphere” “If the Orlando shooter doesn’t represent all Muslims, then why does he represent all gun owners?”
Also, a possibly gay Muslim Democrat conducts a mass murder and somehow it’s the fault of the NRA, Christians, and Republicans.
I agree with Totten.
If our sole form of defense is to be prepared at the clubs, we’ve waited too long. Besides they’ll just hit some other place not so well prepared…….like an Occupy Wall Street rally….it’s easy to find soft targets in the US…all they have to do is look for liberal squishy thinking establishments….places where people live in fantasy land.
They must be turned form winners to abject losers – both militarily and psychologically. I can’t believe we don’t have smart people who know how to do that. What I do believe is that the Obama’s Pelosi’s, and Clintons of the world don’t think it should be done…or don’t want it done because it would infringe on their power.
“it’s easy to find soft targets in the US…all they have to do is look for liberal squishy thinking establishments”
I really shouldn’t laugh, but that is so true it’s funny.
Almost three million Muslims live in the United States. The percentage who have blown up or shot anyone is only slightly more than one in a million.
Sounds good until you realize the flaws.
1) We’re talking about suspending new immigrants until we can improve the process. Immigration is not a right and every country has rules.
2) While many of those millions are not the point of the spear many others do provide support. In Orlando that included his father (who apparently will carry no responsibility.)
3) These guys are not hiding. PC is about the only thing preventing us from dealing with the problem. You want to spot a future terrorist? Find the people the FBI already know about but have decided not to follow up on. Sedition is a real crime with clear metrics. False positives are tough luck. You don’t want to be falsely accused? Then don’t advocate a terrorist position. Why does threatening a president land you in trouble but threatening every other citizen doesn’t?
I heard one of the late night talk show hosts on talk radio, during the drive home today, make the case that we need to expand gun control for the same reason we enhanced security of the airports following 9/11. Yes, because the TSA has done just such a wonderful job of securing air travel **eyeroll**. Never mind that a number of tests of the system have shown that security has failed to spot a number of bomb devices and guns that passed through security lines unnoticed. It’s more blind luck we haven’t had another airline incident. Not to mention 9/11 caused more than just a tightening of security at the airports but also lead to two major war conflicts all in the name of the “War on Terror”. Yet, all of the “It’s Bush’s Fault”, leftist crowd still to this day say the wars were a mistake. I guess for them the only viable option is that when an single evil person rears their ugly head then all innocent, law-abiding citizens must be asked to relinquish even more of their freedoms. Then, just go back to sticking our collective heads in the sand and hope, like a good Ostrich, that the problems of the World will just go away on their own now that we’ve paid the requisite act of attrition.
While there, check out Gov. Weld’s video on the subject from a couple of weeks ago.
We need better screening. No one who favors sharia should get in. A better path is to set up safe havens so there isn’t a mass Muslim migration. Most of these refugees just want to stay in their own homes and retain their culture and way of life. People who come to America, should do so because they want to assimilate into our culture, because they want to be Americans.
We also need to do a better job with the 2nd and 3rd generations that get inculcated with anti-American propaganda by the Democrats.
Obama and the Democrats also need to publically state that the reason there are tens of millions of refugees from the Middle East is because of Obama’s policies.
“No one who favors sharia should get in. ”
Wodun,
That’s a toughie from a practical implementation point of view. How do you figure out if a candidate favors sharia?
You could ask them…they’ll reply “No”
You could try to gather information on them back home to see if they ever expressed favoring sharia. Very time and manpower intensive. Plus there are no paper trails in 3rd world hellholes. So many would slip by.
Not really sure how you implement this one.
Not really sure how you implement this one.
If you can’t screen refugees, I don’t know how you can make the case we should allow mass migration.
Here is something to chew over: “Store Owner Turned Away Manteen Because He Seemed “Odd””
So a gun store refused to sell to a reportedly gay muslim, because he was odd.
If that was a gay person the lefties would be howling!
Oh that’s right….he was
And it gets worse… The store owner actually contacted the FBI, who did nothing. Just like they did nothing in 2013 when Marteen boasted to coworkers about becoming a terrorist. Just like on April 26th, when Disney contacted the FBI about their concern Marteen was surveilling them. And still today, the FBI Director claims they are not sure Marteen’s motive, despite Marteen’s own admissions to a 911 operator, local television report, and on Facebook.
But good news! Despite not knowing Marteen’s motives and having not formally accused them of anything; Marteen’s father and wife are now of the terror watch list. I guess until they are cleared by the FBI, as Marteen was in 2014.
Rand, you and Totten are wrong. The answer is to ban muslims. Islam itself is an evil doctrine and has the nasty ability to take ‘moderate’ citizens with a grudge and turn them into hyper radicalized killers. It’s not enough to simply stop new immigration, the existing residents are just as dangerous and the government should use every means at their disposal to jail, deport or encourage the rest to leave America. So long as there is islam, there will be murders and terrorism, because that’s what islam is. 1 killer is supported by 5 people who help plan and supply the act who are supported by 5000 who silently protect the evil ones among them because they generally agree with the aims and methods.

I was a bit surprised to see Gov. Johnson reiterate his strong pro Second Amendment rights stance so soon.

It took guts to make that rational argument at this time when he could have just laid low for a couple of days. Good for him.
Johnson / Weld will be on the ballot in all 50 state. They have my vote.
Oops, I posted the wrong link. Gov. Johnson’s statement is here: http://thelibertarianrepublic.com/gary-johnson-no-evidence-that-gun-restrictions-make-us-safer/
