It would sure be nice if government dietary advice was actually based on science.

The state of diabetes management and advice for type 2s in the UK is even worse than in the US, and that’s saying something.
In the US, over 90% of endocrinologists (specialists in the endocrine system, thus diabetes) have been recommending low carb for type 2s for years. It’s been catching on gradually. However, most of the advice from the likes of the American Diabetes association is outdated AND based on studies of type 1 diabetes, a very different disease (90% of diabetics are type 2).
In the UK, it’s even worse. For example, the government is just fine with health stores selling “diabetic jam”, which is significantly higher in sugar than regular jam! I call it genocide in a jar. They’ve also clung to the high-carb recommendations for diabetics even worse than the US has.
If it were based on science they wouldn’t know what to recommend.
Then the government would have to decline to become involved in something that is none of the government’s business.
Which is, of course, impossible.
