People who spout nonsense about the “gun show loophole” have probably never legally purchased a gun.

It’s interesting that Germany, recognized as having some of the most stringent gun control laws in the world, should be experiencing this.
It isn’t necessarily about the guns, either. Prior to 1999, the world’s largest gun and militaria show was held at the LA fair grounds. 50,000 people showed up twice a year. There were fewer gun sales or exhibits than there were books, (lots and lots of books), historical artifacts, standard swap meet stuff, military surplus gadgets and libertarian politics. In fact, it was the largest political meeting in the country because virtually everybody there was an advocate of the right of self defense.
Unfortunately, a NAZI pychopath wounded 3 children and two workers at a Jewish community center 50 miles away from the fairgrounds. The LA supervisors passed a law banning gun sales on the fairground premises effectively ending the show and more importantly, it’s political power. This helped to usher in the “assault weapon ban” in California and undoubtedly was useful in turning California into a one party state.
