Dunno, I kinda feel sorry for the guy and I ask why the Feds want to put this fellow in prison.
Its like “Don’t ever talk to the police except to tell them your name and say the word ‘Lawyer'” and this guy talks and talks and talks, and yes, if you talk, they are not going to “go easy on you” because that is a lie that the police, FBI are allowed to tell.
But what has happened has happened, and I guess there should be some consequences for being completely stupid, but if this guy converted religions and then drank 9 beers, this is as much a declaration that his conversion was a mistake, and there are people who think he should die for apostasy. I say put him in the Witness Protection Program and try to give him a new life.
Why put him in prison? Let me see…
Because he bought two guns and gave them to a radical Islamist who used them to murder 14 people.
Did that help?
I just wish I could pimp-slap these idiot “journalists” who insist on calling semi-automatic AR-15 rifles “assault weapons.” Arrgh.
On the latter, I would say “me too.” I would take my Remington 700 300 Winchester Magnum over an AR-15 as an “assault rifle” any time, even though it’s bolt action. I can (demonstrably) put a round through the bulls eye, with residual energy sufficient to go through two people wearing kevlar, at a longer range than the AR-15 can even shoot. And that’s a “deer rifle.”
My point exactly. A person here (with no intention of “sharing” their hunting rifle with an extremist) is exquisitely describing how this weapon could harm two people, even if they were armored.
Anyone who owns a gun has at some time fantasized about the mayhem that could be inflicted (in the wrong hands, of course!).
I am not saying Mr. Marquez shouldn’t be punished. But what he did probably falls in the negligence-with-reckless-disregard category than the outright malice description.
So he gives guns to whom a legally defined “reasonable” person could consider to be murderous radicals?
Profiling!
