A dumb piece at Newsweek.
On the other hand, here’s a smart piece from Eric Berger: We’re going back to the moon, with or without NASA. Absent a major change of attitude in Congress, probably without.

“probably without”
Then they’ll have a much better chance of succeeding.
Link seems to be behind a pay-wall. Oh well. Nothing Newsweek would write about space that I’d be willing to pay for. Move along, move along…
Really? I had no problem with it.
Preferably without, I say.
This article is not only sub moronic about colonising Mars-the human race is supposed to go extinct to meet the demands of political correctness-its massively history free as well. Going to Mars isn’t going to be like vacationing at Club Med. The colonists will be working their tails off to survive in the harsh Martian environment while at the same time striving to build a new civilisation. Finally, Mr. Maney has had his history whitewashed virtually out of existence. Europe in 1700 and afterwards was not “all right.” He’s apparently never heard of the War of the Spanish Succession, the Seven Years War, the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, the Revolutions of 1848, the wars of German and Italian unification, progroms against the Jews in Imperial Russia, rampant poverty in large parts of Europe, etc, etc, etc. Yup, Europe was absolutely ducky. There were no civilisation destroying catastrophes, but Europa was hardly a garden spot.
