The probe found “substantial evidence of mismanagement, poor judgment and institutional inertia leading to the belief by many tax-exempt applicants that the IRS targeted them based on their political viewpoints. But poor management is not a crime,” Assistant Attorney General Peter Kadzik said in the letter.

    “We found no evidence that any IRS official acted based on political, discriminatory, corrupt, or other inappropriate motives that would support a criminal prosecution,” Kadzik said.

    “We also found no evidence that any official involved in the handling of tax-exempt applications or IRS leadership attempted to obstruct justice. Based on the evidence developed in this investigation and the recommendation of experienced career prosecutors and supervising attorneys at the department, we are closing our investigation and will not seek any criminal charges.”

    Sounds a lot like what I’ve been saying for the last year. The incompetence was obvious from the day the story broke. The hypothesis of a political motive or criminal cover-up never acquired firm evidence. It really is possible for a government agency to screw up for no reason other than simple incompetence.

    2. To be fair, everyone here has been saying that this investigation wouldn’t be going anywhere too, not even a smidgen.

          I didn’t see anyone, skimming through, commenting on Obama’s internal DOJ investigation run by one of his donors, which is what the current thread is about. Ever since the results of Obama’s internal DOJ investigation were announced before the investigation began, everyone here was saying it wouldn’t go anywhere and that no one would be held accountable.

          I am shocked that Obama said nothing happened and then his internal investigation run by loyal Democrats didn’t turn up anything even though the pogrom is still ongoing.

          It is obviously ordered by the White House. Jewish groups were targeted and the timing lines up with Obama’s efforts to give Iran nuclear weapons. Even though Obama was acting in secret with the Iranians, he had already prepped the battlefield by making sure there would be as few as possible Jewish groups to speak out.

          As far as using the IRS scandal for impeachment, no one thought that would go anywhere either, even though they liked the idea of it. The IRS scandal is certainly a stain on our nation’s history, like Democrat’s past efforts to persecute people they hate with Jim Crow laws.

      Except that: of course the AG is going to say they found no evidence when they already knew they didn’t want to prosecute Lerner – the DOJ and IRS obstructed/prevented attempts by other agencies to view the evidence via lies, and the Administration is protecting her.

      That’s what we’ve been saying all along.

      Your willful suspension of disbelief is no proof of your prescience.

  2. Poor management that harms people, such as denying them lawful access and response from the government that disrupts their business, is often called “negligence” which can be criminal. So we know the assistant AG here is either dumb as a box of rocks or giving a bias opinion not supported by reality.

    1. Wasn’t she also held in Contempt of Congress. That’s already a criminal charge that should be prosecuted.

    1. Who are you kidding. The Republicans haven’t done anything in response to Reid going nuclear with his judge appointments. And frankly, why would they? If Clinton gets in, their jobs are pretty much guaranteed for the duration. Just as long as they don’t screw up and do something the MSM doesn’t like.

      1. It’s still early but there’s an interesting thing happening in this election cycle. Together, the three political outsiders are polling over 50%. Meanwhile, several career politicians have already dropped out or will soon do so. Should that continue, people like me who hate the GOPe almost as much as we hate the Democrats could actually change things. Time will tell.

        1. It’s still early. Herman Cain led the polls in 2011, but the nomination went to Romney in the end. Trump and Carson are holding on much longer than Cain did, but neither one will be the nominee. I expect it to come down to Rubio and Cruz, though it’s possible Kasich could surprise.

  4. Interesting that Lerner pled the 5th when asked to give evidence. Apparently she thought she’d committed a crime and it wasn’t just a case of bad judgement.

      1. In the courts. We’re quite free to take that as an admission of guilt here and a lot of us, including me, do. Especially, given that she didn’t start pleading the fifth until she was questioned about her suspicious activities.

        Jim, my view on this is that as long as you treat reality as some sort of court case and keep presenting these ridiculous biased arguments, I won’t take you seriously.

      2. She plead the fifth but then took part in the internal investigation. The whole thing is shady and reads like this, “We talked to the people at the IRS and they said everything was cool just like Obama said before we started. How dare you question public servants, they are incapable of acting badly because of their higher moral enlightenment.”

  5. This is an extremely dangerous game that Lerner, Hillary, Holder, and other Democrats are playing. Justice must not only be done but be seen to be done, otherwise people will eventually say F it. You think it’s scary when a few million blacks are chanting “no justice no peace”? Imagine when it is a hundred million Americans saying that. There’s a lot of lampposts in DC.

      A weaponized IRS is a fearsome thing…the willfully obtuse – like Jim – do not have (or do not allow themselves to have) any notion as to the damage this can cause.

      Anarchy/flaunting the law spreads as “everyone is doing it”. This is very dangerous.

      1. Let it be known that lawless in support of the Cause will not be prosecuted, and you will have lawlessness in support of the Cause. The current Executive Regime let it be known early that such lawlessness would be tolerated when the New Black Panther election interference case was dismissed with a slap on the wrist, and gives a reminder with every scandal where investigation and prosecution is obstructed.

        And once is becomes clear that the ruling class is lawless, the common man has little reason to respect the law.
