The worst thing about this piece is this:
Americans are fat because we eat large portions, and because we eat foods that are high in sugar and fat. Americans are fat because we eat large portions, and because we eat foods that are high in sugar and fat. Perhaps it’s time for the surgeon general to put scary warning labels on sugary and fatty foods.
That is a profoundly ignorant statement, nutrition wise. People don’t get fat from eating fat.
Ah yes, Noah Smith: another lumpen douche who is hellbent on using the apparatus of the State to punish people without any knowledge whatsoever on the science behind his latest jihad.
Is there a gene that drives some people to meddle in the affairs of others for no reason other than to get a feeling of power?
I also disagree that taxation curbed smoking. Suing the tabacco companies for making statements that previously were supported by government backed studies is what curbed tobacco usage. If we really need to have a war on obesity, can we sue the FDA and USDA for their Food Pyramid?
