This may be our one hope for any remaining sanity. At least they connive well between themselves. The governments that signed this with us can use it in arguments with those who listen to the Caliphate Revivalists, to say the “contiguous state” language makes it all right to make such deals. The US State Department, meanwhile, is counting on the day of reckoning never coming, or hoping that a contiguous Arab State is generated by “humanitarian” forces, come to rescue the survivors of a successful nuclear attack on Israel we failed to prevent.
Just don’t let them have trigger control over the BMD cruisers assigned to the Med. Fleet squadrons. Of course, in this scenario, a Khomeinist Caliphate would be a few steps from realization, as the first Shia Caliphate since 1170 AD. Few of the Sunni tyrants will be noticing what happens between the Jordan and the Med, if that is the probable result.

Oh, I think Obama totally would but Obama has shown that no agreement or commitment is stronger than the will of the current President. Such a pledge would be a thing for a future President to worry about and it will be easy enough to ignore it. But I am guessing that Obama thinks his pledges will stand the test of time and that future Presidents are required to maintain them. Unlike Obama, who sees himself as unique in his ability to ignore the commitments placed on him by past Presidents.
And Israel already knows that Democrats can put up another anti-semite at any time. The activist and academic class from which Democrat politicians spring forth is overflowing with anti-semites. Israel knows that any American help in a military conflict is strongly predicated on who is in the White House.
