“I was targeted by the IRS, and I have proof“:
The IRS is supposed to be totally nonpolitical, as it must be in a free and fair democratic society. Do you know what my IRS tax file says?
“SENSITIVE CASE.”
Do you know the date “SENSITIVE CASE” was written on my tax file? The week Lois Lerner testified in Congress.
The only thing “SENSITIVE” about my case is that I’m a conservative political columnist and commentator often critical of the president. The only context where “sensitive” applies to me is “POLITICALLY SENSITIVE.”
Why would a citizen’s tax file be tied to his politics? Why would the IRS know my politics? Why would a normal random audit be classified as “SENSITIVE?’
But we’re only getting started with the criminal implications of this case. My IRS auditor wrote into the margin of my file that he spent hours researching my political views. How chilling is that revelation? It sounds like the KGB, Stasi or even the Gestapo.
This administration has weaponized government agencies against its political enemies. As he notes, Nixon had to resign for simply wanting to do so.
[Update a while later]
I don’t see any photos of his tax return on the Fox site, but The Blaze has them:

Baghdad Jim should contact Mr. Root to assure him it’s all in his mind.
Shocker! Did he even read your comment before fulfilling the prediction?
Here’s what Jim will say:
They had to put “sensitive” on his audit because a standard audit would be perceived as targeting because he is conservative. His conservative affiliations needed to be put on the form as well because of the chance that he will use his media connections to accuse the IRS of targeting.
Sure, that’s the ticket!
Remember, I’m not just any conservative media personality. I’m President Obama’s Columbia College classmate (Class of ’83) who has repeatedly questioned his background and agenda. It appears my criticisms hit too close to home.
Now there’s a potent mix of paranoia and delusions of grandeur.
So, ad hominem is all you’ve got?
The guy’s claims of an Oval Office conspiracy out to punish him for his views are ridiculous on their face. What’s left, and what I commented on, is an unintentionally revealing and sadly desperate self-portrait.
An ad hominem attack? Is that all?
Wow, great minds think alike.
Yes, but the post isn’t about you.
It isn’t paranoia if he has the evidence on paper.
Jim, honesty is so refreshing. You don’t have to keep track of the lies. Try it sometime.
Obama does show quite a bit of paranoia and delusions of grandeur, not as much as Hillary and her “vast right wing conspiracy bit”, but why do you bring it up?
Can you call him paranoid after the IRS Audited him the second time?
Jim can, he’s pathological.
The whole Left is pathological these days. But when you believe in coercion and then jettison reason, pathology is what you’re going to get–and a dangerous one at that.
“Now there’s a potent mix of paranoia and delusions of grandeur.”
Is it paranoia when you win in tax court and five DAYS later the IRS audits you AGAIN?
Is it a delusion of grandeur when you appear on Fox, CNN, The Blaze, other TV and radio – five thousand times?
Have the lies you tell so twisted your brain that you refuse to recognize the truth? It’s laid out for you in black and white, literally. Look at the documents posted at the Blaze.
Why is a senator from Oregon getting directly involved in the IRS audit of a Nevada businessman? Of the two (both D) senators from Oregon, one was the chair of the Senate Finance Committee, which oversees the IRS.
See that gun, smoking?
Nixon was forced to resign merely for suggesting using the IRS to target his political enemies. Obama did just that, and the proof is there for you at the Blaze.
If you cannot see this, get help. Seriously. If you are that disconnected from reality, you pose a danger to yourself and others.
Is it paranoia when you win in tax court and five DAYS later the IRS audits you AGAIN?
It’s paranoia if you think that means the president is out to get you.
Is it a delusion of grandeur when you appear on Fox, CNN, The Blaze, other TV and radio – five thousand times?
Yes, if you think that puts you on the president’s radar. I’ve got a lot more time to waste on this sort of thing than the president or his staff, and I’ve never heard of this guy.
Look at the documents posted at the Blaze.
I did. An Oval Office conspiracy is the least likely explanation for the oddities they document.
Why is a senator from Oregon getting directly involved in the IRS audit of a Nevada businessman?
I don’t know — why doesn’t he start by asking the senators?
See that gun, smoking?
No, all you’ve got so far is an active imagination.
Nixon was forced to resign merely for suggesting using the IRS to target his political enemies.
No, Nixon was forced to resign for ordering the CIA to interfere with the FBI’s Watergate investigation. Google “smoking gun tape”.
Obama did just that, and the proof is there for you at the Blaze.
The Blaze has no evidence that Obama did anything at all.
Get help. Not kidding.
“No, Nixon was forced to resign for ordering the CIA to interfere with the FBI’s Watergate investigation.”
So how about interfering with the DOJ “investigation”? Or the IRS IG investigation? Or the congressional investigation?
How is it that Obama gets a pass for interfering in these things?
But then again you will defend Obama spying on reporters who were critical of him and spying on their parents as well. Then you will claim that IRS going after people off Obama’s and the Democrat’s enemies list was just a coincidence.
There is a pattern of persecution that Obama and the Democrats are engaged in and Democrats defend it because they have dehumanized their fellow Americans to the point that they not only don’t care what happens to them at the hands of the Obama administration but actually cheer him on and blame the victims for what took place.
Don’t forget, this is the same administration that said they couldn’t tell the courts who was attacked by the IRS and who had their info leaked to Democrat activist groups because it would violate their privacy. Using victims as shields is one of the most disgusting things this administration has done next to scapegoating and imprisoning a religious minority immigrant for Benghazi.
We have known since this scandal broke that critics, donors, and other individuals and their business, families, and associates were targeted by Obama’s IRS but so far zero investigation into it.
I get why Obama’s media and his DOJ won’t investigate the corruption but why not congressional Republicans?
The libtards don’t really know it’s a crime when they do it, so they’re innocent and you’re all just paranoid.
What’s crazy is we let them get away with it. We know what’s wrong with them, but what is wrong with us?
Obama wont find out that he ordered the IRS to persecute dissidents until he reads about it in the paper. This is why its so important to keep this out of the papers. Can’t have Obama finding out what he did.
It appears that a major part of the reason for the audit was the sale of Winning Edge International to Bet Brokers, the commingling of duties, and the potential for Mr. Root to be considered an employee of the organization, and whether or not his Schedule C and other taxes were prepared legally.
The time spent researching the sale of the assets of WEI to BB, and the ownership and officer status of the other LLCs by Wayne Root would definitely take on the order of 8 hours; it is highly unlikely that the 8 hours were all spent researching the rather obvious journalistic history of Mr. Root.
I mean, if the only entry on that line was tthe research of his political views, that might actually be a smoking gun. But it also appears that there was a rather legitimate reason for the audit, when a $6.5M budiness sale/merger was involved in Mr. Root’s tax filings.
He is one of many.
Pick the target, find a crime and if one isn’t found just make something up.
He’s willing and eager to testify. Sounds like a criminal to you, does it?
