It’s got a kid as the main actor. That usually doesn’t lead to a good movie. It also seems to have too many well known actors. Sounds like a typical Hollywood cash grab movie.
Britt Robertson is 24. She’ll be 25 in a month. She’s been acting since she was 10 and is very good – 15 years of dues paid. I first noticed her in a TV movie ‘The Tenth Circle’ she did in 2008. She was also excellent in ‘Triple Dog’ another TV movie from 2010. Not a kid, despite still being able to effortlessly pass for a high-schooler on screen.
So was Shia LaBeouf in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. It still sucked.
I am put in mind of an old saying about the non-fungibilty of sow’s ears and silk purses. If one starts with a silk purse, however…
Are boys allowed in the future anymore?
Not if it involves anything heroic. They can be villains, though.
Enh, anytime something claims they took the best and brightest to use smart power to save the world, its a turn off.
” come down on a pillar of fire, as God and Bob Heinlein intended* ”
I can’t comment there. But that’s John Varley in “Steel Beach”, I’m pretty sure.
It was Jerry Pournelle writing about the DC-X program back in the nineties. Varley (and many others apparently since) no doubt saw the quote and found it memorable.
It’s Brad Bird.
What else do you need to know?
Who is Brad Bird, and should I care?
Have you been living on another planet?
Brad Bird, the director. The director.
Iron Giant. Ratatouille. The Incredibles.
Meh …
Sorry, Clint Eastwood is “the” director
🙂
There’s no accounting for taste.
Don’t care for Clooney but it does look interesting.
