This says it all:
I’ll make a deal with Obama. If he finds the people responsible for the Crusades, the Inquisition, or American slavery still alive and malicious, we’ll bomb them too. In the meantime, how about we start telling the truth about the Islamist terrorists who are right now literally enslaving young girls as sex objects, slaughtering anyone who doesn’t think like them, acquiring territory in the Middle East, and threatening attacks on the US and Europe? History professors can blather on ad nauseam about events 1,000 years ago, but Presidents are supposed to focus on the here and now. Skip the ignorant and hypocritical lectures, and do your job.
He doesn’t seem to know what his job is.

Remember when FDR said we shouldn't get up on our high horse in fighting Imperial Japan and Nazis because we used to have slavery?

Remember when Churchill said we should be humble in fighting Nazis because the English used to disembowel traitors?

Some history of the Crusades for those who (like Obama) are historically ignorant, from Claire Berlinski.
And of course, when the (Christian) British left the (diverse) sub-continent of India, the Sikhs and Hindus went berserk. Although in any case the violence done by any of the parties, Sikh Hindu or even poor oppressed Islams, was entirely the fault of the Christian Colonial Imperialist Capitalist Aristocratic British who were then, as now, on the “wrong side of” (the one true god) History.
Right, Mr President?
Charles James Napier talking about Sati: “Be it so. This burning of widows is your custom; prepare the funeral pile. But my nation has also a custom. When men burn women alive we hang them, and confiscate all their property. My carpenters shall therefore erect gibbets on which to hang all concerned when the widow is consumed. Let us all act according to national customs.”
Expect Baghdad Jim to show up here momentarily with the party-line exoneration of Il Dufe.
I do wonder how much he is paid to throw away his credibility. He probably thinks it noble that he doesn’t get paid, which just makes him all the more an idiot for showing up here and providing the stupid talking points that are so easily proven as lies.
Doing his job would require putting American interests ahead of his cronies. Never gonna happen.
Foreign Policy magazine article on the administration’s new foreign policy vision called “strategic patience”. Yeah. They really called it that, probably trying to preempt Conan O’Brien who would’ve mockingly made up that term himself.
We must be patient for a hundred years or more but we can’t be patient enough to have a relationship with Iraq like we did with Japan, Korea, and Germany.
This was on Drudge the other day, Obama’s Secret Iran Strategy . Its similar to the piece you linked.
It isn’t that Obama doesn’t have an overarching strategic vision, its just that Obama’s vision isn’t in our or our allies best interests.
Skip the ignorant and hypocritical lectures, and do your job.
That’s expecting a lot of a man who apparently has never worked a real job in his entire life. Why should he start now?
Ok, I think this progressive train of thought is starting to work on me. Because of the Crusades and Jim Crow laws; we should end our #BringBackOurGirls campaign against Boko Harem. All religions have sinners, and neither should judge the other because of it. After all, the Jordanian pilot was simply killed in the manner in which he killed under the guidelines of his religion. Christians did worse in Salem. So a few thousand women are being wound up, their families slayed in front of them, and then they are given to their captors to be raped and destroyed. Our ancestors may have done worse a thousand years ago, and so we shouldn’t judge.
I don’t think Democrats listen to Obama much. Yesterday, Matthew Yglesias sent a tweet asking why we are talking about the Crusades, like it was something Obama’s enemies brought up out of nowhere.
The saddest thing is Obama’s supporters are jus as ignorant about the crusades. Met one yesterday that otherwise didn’t seem deranged.
Why does it seem that American’s were better educated in one room schoolhouses?
