I went to Catholic school K-8, public High School, and a (nominally) Catholic college, where I was required to take two Religious Studies classes as part of my core curriculum for my degree. I can say without any hesitation that this is the first time that I’ve heard the word ‘eschatology’, and I had to look it up as well. And I wouldn’t necessarily count myself among the “ignorant” or “uneducated”, it’s just not part of my lexicon.
It’s not your job to be a professional communicator.
I always thought eschatology was the study of what would happen if a Republican bill passes, but perhaps I picked that up from journalists.
