Has changed the energy landscape.
Of course, stupidly, California isn’t participating. As I’ll discuss in my ongoing series of the six Califorias, the Monterey Shale holds the solution to both the state’s energy and water problems, but the moron electorate in the Bay Area and LA won’t let it happen.
Ah yes, poverty for thee, but not for me.
Don’t the rural rubes understand just how much the Left Coast cares about the environment? It’s in their best interest to live in squalor so that Mother Gaia isn’t hurt.
New company “California Toxic Waste Destruction Non-Profit” takes uncontrolled, hazardous, toxic, flammable, potentially explosive, carcinogenic, mutagenic, teratogenic, chemically active waste and converts it into certified drinkable distilled water and plant food. Oh, and electricity.
The process is proprietary, but you can analyze our outputs for verification.
Obama tried to kill the golden goose but thankfully the goose was on private property and they wouldn’t give Obama permission to hunt. In a strange twist of fate, the golden goose continues to pump out eggs that benefit Obama’s economic numbers, which Obama takes credit for despite still trying to kill the goose.
It was apparent, early in Obama’s first term, that this would happen. My worry was the democrats would take credit as Obama has already tried while attempting to do anything to stop it. So far they haven’t fooled the public on this issue, but they still have time.
U.S. officials cut estimate of recoverable Monterey Shale oil by 96%. From the article: Unlike heavily fracked shale deposits in North Dakota and Texas, which are relatively even and layered like a cake, Monterey Shale has been folded and shattered by seismic activity, with the oil found at deeper strata.
Folded and shattered – who woulda thought that geological formations in earthquake country would be folded and shattered?
Well, we’d better just not even try.
Twenty years ago fracking was impossible. Now it is producing miracles, and giving less money to Islamic terrorism. I think if we let companies attempt to get the oil, they would be successful. That is hard to understand, I know. The idea of letting companies try and fail just doesn’t fit into the progressive handbook. Bureaucrats need to decide what is true and not true before anyone even attempts something.
” Now it is producing miracles, and giving less money to Islamic terrorism.”
Ya, I thought Democrats were an all of the above party for energy, didn’t Obama say that to counter drill baby drill? The sad thing is that energy development that truly was all of the above would be an enormous help to President Diplomacy but he doesn’t actually know that diplomacy is more than talking.
Actually, fracking was not impossible 20 years ago. Fracking has been around for a century. What wasn’t done 20 years ago is combine fracking with directional drilling to allow pipe to cut through larger sections of formations. This involves higher pressures, and that takes new technology that was developed.
You have to be careful with that you say about fracking with Gerrib. He believes fracking causes gas in water supplies, despite government (normally his favorite go to source) debunking it. Monterrey isn’t going to be developed anytime soon, not because of the lack of recoverable resources, but the high cost of land and the one percenters who live there and will fight any development with help from their useful idiots.
I wonder if they’ll have to increase the estimates once someone starts extracting. It’s real politically convenient to drop estimated reserves by a factor of 25.
Oh yeah, the Geoscientists who initially surveyed that formation were totally clueless about the thrust fault located on the California coast Chris, the one that stares you in the face in thousand of locations.
Who knew about the shale oil thing — I certainly didn’t.
My tank-car leasing company is doing great. Thought it was simply a safe investment in a boring, mature industry. Thank you pipeline-obstructing Environmentalists for making it a hot stock!
Now if I had known that every 20-something would be walking around in a daze, crossing streets with blasting earphones connected to a gadget made by a company that has defacto made a hostile takeover of the entire pop music industry, I would be so well off I wouldn’t be talking to you guys. But even now as I try not to run into headphone zombies in my car, I still think the concept is stoopid and “don’t get” how that has created so go’l durn’ much market capital compared to something society needs — say, tank cars.
“Thank you pipeline-obstructing Environmentalists for making it a hot stock!”
Lol.

Yep. Here’s how California’s going to reap riches from the fracking boom–by building terminals to receive the oil from ND by rail.
