Counting down for the usual Eloi to show up here and tell you why Holder was the greatest attorney general ever. You know, as State office-holders go, right up there with Lois Lerner.
I don’t think he was the greatest AG ever (I wonder who the candidates for that honor would be). He took a lot of ridiculous and baseless political flak, and was remarkably patient with it, but that doesn’t equal greatness. He did good work on sentencing reform, scaling back the drug war, resisting vote suppression, LGBTQ rights, and civil rights. But he didn’t prosecute anyone for the Wall Street catastrophe, or torture, while throwing the book at leakers and journalists.
Black Panther voter intimidation? Yeah, good job there.
AP phone records?
The emperor has no clothes, but to you he’s wearing an Armani suit.

That incident has an amazing hold on the imagination of the Fox News right, despite being, in the words of Abigail Thernstrom, “very small potatoes“:
In the 45 years since the [Voting Rights] act was passed, there have been a total of three successful prosecutions. The incident involved only two Panthers at a single majority-black precinct in Philadelphia. So far — after months of hearings, testimony and investigation — no one has produced actual evidence that any voters were too scared to cast their ballots. Too much overheated rhetoric filled with insinuations and unsubstantiated charges has been devoted to this case.
For comparison, an analysis by the Orlando Sentinel estimated that 210,000 voters gave up in frustration at long voting lines in Florida in 2012. But I’m guessing that the New Black Panther Party story — where it isn’t clear that a single vote was affected — got at least 100 times as much air time on Fox News, right wing talk radio, etc.
The Philadelphia case had already been a successful prosecution, under the Bush administration. Then Holder simply dropped the charges.
That’s right Bilwisk – everythign he did can be explained away and is totally logical.
IF he is to be judged by his performance in meeting the administrations objectives, he’s probably one of the finest AG’s ever to hold the post. He has stone-walled every investigation and permitted the government to get away with breath-taking illegality for partisan purposes. Obama and Holder really have fundamentally transformed the nation.
Hiss aims are undoubtedly evil and he is corrupt beyond measure, but he has served his masters will with distinction.

I find criticism of the outgoing Attorney General falacious, salacious, egregious, and . . . outrageous!
