Actually it is not that surprising. Back in the early 1980’s Fred Smith tried to buy a shuttle orbiter for commercial use, but NASA turned him down. Some where I have the old Aviation Week article on it on file. I seem to recall they were also trying to buy a satellite then for their failed “Zapmail” service about the same time frame. So this fits the pattern of the firm’s interest in space.
And I remember their ads being all over Space Mountain back in the 80s — now it makes sense!
from what I can see, it looks like a brand extension of FEDEX Custom Critical.
I’ve seen Fedex CC move spacecraft before. Air shock trailers, special Air Conditioning to the
canister, instrumented ride….
