I’ve been taking an 81 mg dose for heart-attack/stroke prevention, but maybe I shouldn’t be.
And how did they come up with 81 for the dosage? Why not a round number?

A child’s dose is (arbitrarily?) set at 1/4 the adult dose. 325÷4=81.25, hence, rounded to 81. Dunno why, medically speaking.
The serious side effect is bleeding — it could be unexplained bruising, puffy joints, heartburn pain, dark #2.
If you don’t have such symptoms, follow your doctor’s recommendation or talk about it with your doctor.
On the other hand, if you are not taking aspirin, it is not a harmless drug, and even if your doctor suggests taking it, know the symptoms of the side effects.
I haven’t noticed any of those problems. But I think I’ll stop anyway. I am doing well in terms of omega 3.
I put oregano on some of my food. Like when I eat a cheese sandwich. Similar effect to aspirin.
I was put on aspirin a couple of years ago and stopped after a couple on minor bumps caused bruises the size of half a tennis ball, one was on my shin which we bandaged tight to squeeze the excess blood out.
It’s very likely that taking fish oil, or even better eating oily fish maybe twice a week or so, is going to have the same effects on unwanted clotting without the gastric side effects.
In addition, a fairly large number of different plant foods contain salicylate and that might be a better way of getting that particular molecule into the system.

Still gastric side effects just different.
More like gastrointestinal side effects in that case.
I thought this was going to be a report of a large-scale study that refuted earlier small-scale study, i.e., something worth paying attention to. Instead it was “my expert can beat up your expert.”
