The District of Columbia and the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press have also filed amicus briefs on our behalf. None of them address the merits of the case, but at this point they probably see no need to, since it shouldn’t even go to trial.

What’s the issue? I think it’s just wether or not the Defendants have a right to an interlocutory
appeal on the SLAPP issue.
Because of the very nature and purpose of a SLAPP filing, it would completely undermine the SLAPP law to force a defendant to go through the expense and time of a trial before the SLAPP appeal can be decided. It’s very hard to turn an omelette back into an egg.
