It needs NASA a lot more than NASA needs it.
That’s certainly true in the longer term. I don’t know if Putin understands that, though, or cares enough to use it as leverage in Ukraine.

What reason have we to believe that space development is any more important in Russia than it is in the US?
I think Rand is right regarding Putin’s possible short term calculus.
Most everyone has been saying the same “They need us more than we need them” regarding Russian sales of natural gas to Europe. But, that didn’t stop them from announcing today that they plan to cut it.
