It’s frightening to think how close that fool came to being president.

Even my wife, who is an Obama supporter, had a WTF moment when I told her Kerry had been picked to be HRC’s replacement at State. I still can’t figure out what Obama’s rationale for the choice was. At least with Clinton, you could say it was a way to neutralize her for the duration of his time in office. Kerry gives him nothing but unintentional humor.
Maybe the idea was to make Hillary look good in comparison, for 2016.
Maybe, but the idiocy that is Kerry doesn’t make the “Reset Button” look any less lame. It also won’t cover up any of the other foreign policy errors of the past 5 (and likely next 3) years. At the end of the day, being part of Obama’s foreign policy team doesn’t sound like much of a resume enhancer.

It’s simple:
Kerry is, not to put too fine a point on it, a moron. He’s pliable. Most importantly, he’s buy-able.
Kerry lusted after the Sec. of State position and Obama knew it. Kerry also hasn’t demonstrated any consistent, overarching foreign policy philosophy. He was for the $87 zillion before he was against it etc.
So what could be more perfect for Obama? A guy who lusts after the position who will do what you want and won’t be a PITA about his own ideas because he doesn’t have any.
An he dresses pretty well and has a fabulous haircut.
Is it frightening to think how close he came to becoming President? Yep, though not quite as frighting as contemplating a president stupid enough to think John Kerry is the best choice for SecState.

Let’s see how close he gets in 2016.

I think the moron who got elected is quite a bit worse.
I’ll take “makes a fool of himself on Twitter” over “starts unnecessary wars” any day.
One could lead to the other. Obama making a fool of himself almost got us into a war in Syria.
Second term ain’t over yet, son
