I don’t see how refraining from taking potshots at his colleague is grovelling.
Taking a bad judgment in stride without any protest is grovelling. All evil needs in order to succeed is for good men to do nothing.
I’ve long suspected that many judges are little more than failed lawyers with sufficient political connections to get appointed or elected to the bench.
In the comments, this David Appell person seems to come off as an arrogant, know-it-all jerk, one who cares more about getting the right political policy outcome than getting the science right.
