The proposed rule, ‘Guidance for Tax-Exempt Social Welfare Organizations on Candidate-Related Political Activities’ does not impact labor unions or the Chamber of Commerce, but does impact the Tea Party and other conservative groups.
Can’t have people who actually favor limited government have any political influence.
have any political influence
If your goal is political influence, why pass yourself off as a social welfare organization?
Why do you think MoveOn.org does?
At some point MoveOn.org split itself into two parts, MoveOn Political Action (a political action committee) and MoveOn Civic Action (a 501c4 social welfare organization). “People who favor limited government” are free to do the same.
Then there is OFA and a multitude of other Democrat front groups. Will they all be held to the same standard? Will the Tides Foundation keep their tax status? Because it looks like friends of the administration get special treatment while everyone else gets the shaft.
Will Obama use executive powers to selectivly enforce this rule like he does others?
This is just another case of one set of rules for Democrats and their friends and another set of rules for everyone else.
Tea Party groups are in good company. MLK was targeted by the IRS under a Democrat administration too.
So, I go to Moveon.org website, and the first thing it says is: “Democracy in Action” with the first article “Governor Christie, it’s time to resign”. That looks like political advocacy to me. Indeed, Moveon.org specifically states that Moveon.org is “A joint website of MoveOn.org Civic Action and MoveOn.org Political Action.” Joint? The freedictionary website defines joint this way: “A place or part at which two or more things are joined.”
Now, what is the difference between this post and your earlier post regarding the Mexican Govt?

Oh, ours doesn’t involve guns.
Oh, ours doesn’t involve guns.
Really? Searched “IRS Raids”, and found this: A cabbie at the garage told a Globe photographer that the IRS agents drew their guns and instructed everyone inside the mammoth garage to put their hands up during the raid yesterday afternoon.
It’s a two step process, but guns get involved.
If your goal is abortions, why pass yourself off as a health care facility?
Because, Jim, “People who support -unlimited- (or, at least, -more-) government” is -already- ruled ‘non-political’.
You’re making the argument that “We want more unemployment benefits!” is -non- political, and that the argument “We want -less- unemployment benefits!” is political.
AKA: “Opposition to me is political.”
And probably treason, too.
You’ve hit the nail on the head, Al. My liberal friends say CNN is unbiased and Fox is biased. They can never see through their own filters.
Jim has the same problem, he can’t understand that his thinking is biased, too.
And a liberal will always say their side is reasonable, and the conservative is extreme.
