Glad to see the writer referencing the book CAPITALISM AND THE HISTORIANS. It should be more widely known.
One of the best articles I’ve read on PJ Media.
If you want to make a hard-core lefties head explode, tell them the only problem with Capitalism is the right people haven’t tried it in it’s pure form yet.
And do it before they say the same about Marxism.
That’s just cruel. Slapping leftists with reality is as bad as taunting retarded people. They can’t help it if they’re slow.
I did not think the article was that good. In the end the social problems introduced by the Industrial Revolution were solved in places like Britain because compromises were established. More people got the right to vote and the franchise was enlarged. Working conditions were improved eventually as a result.
Today the opposite seems to be happening. In Europe at least things are going horribly as the EU Commission gains more power. Those guys are not directly elected not even elected by a parliament or electoral college or whatever. Citizens are further away from the rulers instead of it being the other way around as you would expect post Information Revolution. I had hope the Internet would enable citizens to be more involved in the political process but instead the complete opposite seems to be happening and it is increasingly used as an instrument of coercion, surveillance, and oppression. Sad times.
What happened in Iceland was interesting but I suspect our dear leaders won’t let it happen in their own turf.
