  1. All of Marx’s predictions failed, but you’ll find that every economist starts their story about Marx by explaining what he got right. Later, they’ll explain why even this was wrong.

Marxism in a nutshell: the bosses have to pay the workers the bare minimum that they can survive on in order to compete, but if they do that the workers won’t be able to buy the products they’re making.

How to inoculate anyone against Marxism: tell them stories about workers becoming bosses. Show how common it is.

Unfortunately, there’s plenty of economists who think that Marx was right in his day, because back then the bosses weren’t former workers, they were essentially royalty and it’s only recently that the class divisions have gone away – this is wrong too, as the life story of just about any 19th century industrialist demonstrates.

  2. …there’s a distinction between socialism as evolved through democratic reform movements and the poisonous philosophy of Karl Marx

No there isn’t. This is just another rehabilitation effort by someone that should know better. Just because you can’t make a direct connection to death doesn’t mean it isn’t there. It’s misdirection.

    1. .. but, but, voting can make anything legitimate!

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for dinner – Gary Strand

This is often attributed to Ben Franklin, but is most likely only as old as the internet. I think that alone says something.

      1. Yup. The advantage of voting in herds is you bear almost no responsibility and you don’t have to have a reason (or use reason.)

  3. Marxists should get at least as much moral opprobrium as Nazi supporters.

    *sigh*
You’d think this would be a no-brainer by now.
