Much of what passes for higher education can be replicated by online forums. But professors couldn’t get rich that way.
“You been tellin’ me you’re a genius since you were seventeen.
In all the time I’ve known you, I still don’t know what you mean.
The weekend in the college didn’t turn out like you planned.
The things that pass for knowledge, I can’t understand.”

I promise you that after reading all of that article, “Edward” still feels he is the biggest embarrassment and even believes most, if not all of those mentioned, are doing great work ‘enlightening’ the kids at those schools.
I’d love for the NC state legislature to hold hearings about what the taxpayers are paying for. For one thing, those photos of underage kids in the nude would most likely be a federal child pornography felony. Does academic freedom cover that? Should the state’s elected representatives have any say at what gets funded in the public universities?
I was talking to my nephew a couple of days ago, who has decided on an engineering major. This semester he is voluntarily taking (1) Calculus of Several Variables, (2) Physics: E&M, and (3) Advanced French.
Somewhat involuntarily he is taking “Women in Rock & Roll”, to fulfill his G.E. requirement.
What is this “E&M” and does it have anything to do with Miley Cyrus?
My poppa often repeated the joke about the farmer who sent his son off as the first generation in their family to attend college. Son comes home for Thanksgiving and the old man asks, “So, waddya study over there in college.” The young man tells his father that he is studying English, French, and Algebra.
The old man thinks a moment about this. He knew that we all speak English, and being able to speak it and write it at a college level was of some benefit, and that there are folks in Quebec who talk differently than we do, and there is some benefit of knowing what they are saying, but this Algebra thing had him stumped.
“Son, say something in Algebra.”
The young man doesn’t quite know how to respond but he doesn’t want to disrespect Pa, so he says, “um, pi-R-squared!”
The old man thinks for a second and then shakes his head, “No, no, son. Pie are round . . . cornbread square!”
One need only to spend a few hours in ANY public university ethnic or gender studies dept to understand that public universities are now taking the place of mental asylums of old, except the inmates are running them.
