I tend to rinse and run water through it, in a deep sink. I’m pretty sure that I don’t make the mess shown here.

I hadn’t even come across the concept of washing chicken before I moved to Canada. I think the linked video demonstrates that you shouldn’t let an idiot wash a chicken, rather than that you shouldn’t do it. Who puts all their other raw ingredients next to the sink when washing anything?
I’ve got a rotisserie machine and usually cook a whole chicken once a month. I don’t usually rinse the chicken in the sink but I do give it a bath in a sugar & salt brine over night. Goes straight out of the package into the bath and into the refrigerator. Brining really helps break up the clotted up blood in the legs, thighs, and wings. Hmmmm, now this is making me want chicken.
I’m not exactly an expert cook, but I’ve always heard that you shouldn’t wash chicken. Just cooking it properly will kill the bacteria.
