“We’ve reached a startling level of [it] when distinguishing pencils from pistols requires an ordinance.”
[Update a while later]
Speaking of brainlessness, Bloomberg’s gun grabber morons have put the Boston Bomber on a list of gunshot victims. I think that most sane people would find that a feature, not a bug.
I thought the man was the victim of sibling vehicular misoperation. Of this immigrant-geek tech-entrepeneur dude’s stolen Mercedes SUV.
Maybe the driving age needs to be raised to age 21?
Not him. The one who ran over him.
One small point: The old saw “guns don’t kill people; people do” is not quite true. Various sorts of accident, mostly involving poorly-maintained weapons, can lead to a gun killing someone.
More likely, of course, to happen with the sort of gun that someone buys for “self-defense”, never practices with (so that it would be pretty useless anyway – a gun you don’t know how to shoot is more of a liability than a help) and spends three years, without even basic cleaning, in a glove compartment or similar. I wonder what proportion of guns are like that?
Accidents don’t just happen, they are caused — by negligence or stupidity. A gun that is never touched by human hands can’t hurt anybody, so the “old saw” holds.
