“OK, so maybe those gun nuts weren’t as crazy as I thought they were.”
Out: Gun control.
In. Government control.
[Update a while later]
Joe Scarborough is having second thoughts, too: “Gee, maybe background checks aren’t such a red-hot idea after all.”
I hope that this is the week that the American people finally wake up, after having stared into the abyss.
I second the article’s incredulity…..
Vaguely?
They utterly failed to get a bill through the Democrat controlled Senate and didn’t even carry all the Democrat votes, much less did they have a chance of getting anything through the House, and that was when the stars were all aligned for them.
Their overreach and corruption has blown an serious thoughts of gun control measures for the next decade or two, at least.
So one of the spins on the AP wiretapping is that Republicans blocked a media shield law that supposedly would have prevented the DOJ excess. What to do? Create a new media shield bill and push it through Congress to try and regain media support of the party. One problem, the DOJ violated laws already on the book. What good is new laws if the DOJ violated current laws?
It’s pretty much the same problem with calls for new gun laws based on crimes being committed. Just prosecute the crime based on laws currently on the book.
Leland you bring up a killer argument:
What is the good of passing new (gun) laws – crooks won’t follow those either.
And for proof – just look at the Democrats!
Rare moment of something approaching common sense from that pompous blowhard Piers Morgan. It won’t last though, sure as soon as his liberal base takes him to task for “giving support do those gun nuts point of view”, he will recant, claim he was taken out of context.
