If you want a real scare, ask yourself who he’d nominate to be the new veep — and then try to convince yourself Boehner and McConnell wouldn’t go along with the confirmation.
Other than pseudo-charisma and skin color, how is Biden any different from the current occupier of the white house?
He’s considerably dumber, more impulsive, and prefers to yammer without benefit of a teleprompter?
People claim to be horrified about President Biden. I relish the idea. I think he’s such a blowhard that nothing would get done.
The really scary thing is the Vice President would be a lot better than who we have now. As bad as Mr. Biden is, there is worse.
Who did the White House send to negotiate the few “deals” they got out of Congress since 2010 — Ol’ Joe. Bob Woodward called him the “McConnell whisperer” (a horse whisperer is someone who is able to get what he wants from a horse without scaring the horse, they have a lot of horses in Kentucky, Senator McConnel represents Kentucky . . .)
In fact, in the Fiscal Cliff, it was McConnell who asked for Biden because he can’t stand the thought of negotiating with a gentleman whose idea of a negotiating gambit is “don’t call my bluff.”
Biden scares me, too, a lot.
That’s just too bad. We’ve got to start somewhere.
Obama has given aid and comfort to our enemies, foreign and domestic. He is a domestic enemy, flat out.
He must be impeached, at least, and preferably tried, and if found guilty, hung for treason.
Even an impeachment would serve as fair warning that the American people have been pushed to the line, and that it would be dangerous to cross us again.
(The interesting question is, would Hillary swing next to him? I think she should if the facts of Benghazi are borne out.)
hung for treason
Don’t hold back, tell us what you really think.
fair warning that the American people have been pushed to the line, and that it would be dangerous to cross us again
The American people, who elected Obama twice, are going to ask Congress (RealClearPolitics approval rating: -59%) to get rid of Obama (RCP approval rating: +3%)?
We’ve got to start somewhere
We live in a republic. You start by convincing the voters to prefer an alternative.
Based on what I’ve heard and read so far, BHO has not committed anything close to an impeachable, let alone convictable, act of “…Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”
On the other hand, Jim, you could replace “Obama” with “Nixon” in your second point above and it would have been equally true way back on May 10th, 1973. The cards have not all been dealt on this one.
Still, I think the odds are effectively zero BHO will be impeached for anything related to the Sept. 11/12, 2012, Benghazi attacks. I do think it’s even money today on his credibility and reputation taking major hits below the waterline with a majority of US citizens, due to his actions or inactions before, during, and after the Benghazi attacks, and due to his public statements up to two-plus weeks afterwards.
(I know you disagree about the public statements part; we’ll simply have to agree to disagree on that one. That subject has been beaten to death in a different thread, so no need for either of us to add anything more here. OK?)
I think we can do without hanging. A simple trial and removal from office would be enough.
I don’t know, from a legal standpoint, if standing by and not doing anything while your subordinates die, when you could have, is impeachable, but I bet it’s pretty close.
And then blatantly lied to us for months about what happened.
Standing by and doing nothing (or outright stopping a rescue attempt) and then blatantly lying to us about it is *not* an impeachable offense, sad to say.
However, forcing the CIA to rewrite its analysis into a lie which is then presented to congress is; congress has a legal right to know.
Threats and extortion to keep people from speaking to congress during a congressional investigation is also such an offense; it’s obstruction of justice and suborning perjury.
It’s not the initial act that gets you, it’s the cover-up.
I think it will be most highly amusing if Obama tries to throw Hillary under the bus for this, and that’s looking like his only viable option. I have a hunch that Hilary would not go down easy…
As for a President Biden, as absolutely horrifying as I find that spectacle, I’d prefer him to Obama.
However… Biden is head of the National Security Council, so are his hands clean here? If he’s involved in the illegal acts, both Obama and Biden could be impeached and convicted.
Or, a more amusing possibility; Biden might be in a position to provide the proof needed to bring down Obama. We already know that Biden wants to be President (he’s run for the office before, more than once), and this is likely the only scenario by which he has a hope of achieving that goal. Quite a temptation.
BTW, I’m beyond delighted to see ABC and CNN now reporting this stuff as headline news, and also doing investigations. That, more than anything else, makes me think that this is going to have exceedingly serious consequences.
Pass the popcorn. 🙂
Crazy Joe as President would not be good for Democrats in 2016. We would just have to hope he didn’t start on nuclear war with brazil over the treament of polar bears or go on a tour of Africa saying America is going to start up the slave trade. Seriously, Democrats still talk smack about Palin? Uncle Joe “Gonna put you back in chains” Biden revoked the use of the Palin card.
Barack Milhous Obama.
Barack Hussein Carter
Barack Hussein Carter
Letting fear of riots direct justice is like letting fear of tantrums direct child raising. Whichever way you believe, riots should not be the determining factor.
ignoring the near certainty of accompanying race riots
I don’t see this as at all likely. I don’t assume that black folks will riot simply because the president is black. I imagine if the charges are plausible enough for a vote, most would see the vote as a legitimate part of the process.
But then again, I don’t see any impeachment on this happening because, Inhofe notwithstanding, there just isn’t enough scandal here.
Nobody is expecting most blacks, or most of anybody else, to riot. Most blacks didn’t riot in any of the cities beset by rioting in the ’60s, nor after the Rodney King verdict in the early 1990s. It only ever takes a handful of people who would rather destroy their own neighborhoods than work to make them better, to carry out a “race riot.”
You now know a great deal more than you obviously did when you posted your comment, Dave. You owe me whatever your college charged you per credit for your bachelor’s degree.
I have a Paypal link on my website for your convenience.
Oh, there would be a race riot. Hordes of unwashed upper middle class white hipsters and neo-hippies would stream out of starbucks on every corner into the streets.
Joe Biden: The only US official Bin Laden specifically told his affiliates not to attack, since taking out Obama would make Biden the President.
This is the same Congress that held Attorney General Holder’s feet to the fire for Fast and Furious? I think you overestimate their chances.
I think I’ve been a bit critical of the Administration’s handling of Benghazi. However, I don’t see that issue, even with a cover up, rising to an impeachment. It would take a bit more understanding of the intent to deceive before I would expect Congress to act. If it was deception for an election year embarrassment, then I’d make it a campaign issue and pass on impeachment. If it was to bolster the UN effort at International Blasphemy Laws, then I’m calling my Congressman to Impeach the lot of them.
I realize the initial link was about Benghazi. And so, I stated my opinion on it. However, this IRS thing…
There better not be one sign that President Obama knew about this prior to Jan 21, 2013. I’ll give the Administration room to be notified and then work within itself to investigate and bring forward the story. I’m giving lots of room by going back to Jan 21st. Really, he should have held a press conference about the impropriety within a week of being notified of it. Using the IRS to squelch free speech is a human rights abuse, and President Obama knows it. People need to be fired and criminally investigated for such abuse. The names of those involved should be made known to the public.
If I was Biden, I’d make a statement on the IRS abuse, because otherwise, he should not have known either.
