It’s not a new theme, but it is a new source: Joe Klein:
Yes, the President has faced a terrible economic crisis—and he has done well to limit the damage. He has also succeeded in avoiding disasters overseas. But, as a Democrat—as someone who believes in activist government—he has a vested interest in seeing that federal programs actually work efficiently. I don’t see much evidence that this is anywhere near the top of his priorities.
He only just figured that out? A little slow on the uptake, I guess.
He has also succeeded in avoiding disasters overseas.
He has?
Well, it’s only been five years since Bush. We can’t expect a turn around on the spur of the moment, you know.
WTH makes Klein think Dems have EVER made or looked for efficiency from the federal government or it’s policies and outlets?
Indeed. Governmen is run by politicians, whose interest is in exploiting problems, not solving them.
Boy, Klein’s been living under a rock since the ’70s, hasn’t he?
Yes, the President has faced a terrible economic crisis—and he has done well to limit the damage.
Bull. If Obama were actually intent on harming America’s economy, what would he do differently?
Jim?
Seriously, he seems to have the Obamanaut position on nearly everything at his fingertips, and I’d be curious to get his reaction to a former lapdog like Klein turning on The One…
Here you go, flaviuscrispus:
“Klein is a tool of Emmanuel Goldberg! Do not listen to his twisted lies! All is well!”–Baghdad Jim.
War is Peace. Ignorance is Strength. Freedom is Slavery.
I think Klein has a point — poor implementation of the Obamacare federal-run exchanges will hurt public support for Obamacare, and for activist government in general. I think it’s good that journalists who usually support Obama feel free to criticize him when they think he’s dropped the ball.
“poor implementation of the Obamacare federal-run exchanges will hurt public support for Obamacare,”
You were warned about this and a zillion other defects of the entire idea.

“There never was a good knife made of bad steel.” – Benjamin Franklin.
What do you think of the oft-quoted notion that Obama isn’t interested in making the AHCA work because it was designed all along to fail, and thereby justify imposing a single-payer plan on everyone? His seeming disinterest in implementing key provisions of the act tends to add credence to this view, dontcha think?
We know the democrats pushing for “health care reform” want single payer.
We know the plan, as written, will bankrupt medical insurance companies with the preexisting conditions clause.
We know the plan, as written, is counterproductive to actually making medical services affordable.
Sounds like a soon-to-be crisis that someone can “use”.
