The idea that you’re “alone” unless you’re being directed by the government strikes me as dehumanizing and almost abusive. So I resist this scare tactic of presenting the government as the alternative to being “alone.”
Actually, fallacy is too kind a word for it. It’s a false-choice straw man, and a lie.
How can I “act alone” when I choose not to lean on the government for help, but my choice whether to purchase a comprehensive health care plan or a catastrophic plan is an “interstate commerce” decision?
I know, I know, too many questions. I’ll go back in the box…
There are only two things government is needed for.
1) Judges to resolve disputes when people refuse to.
2) National defense when other nations attack.
Local communities can form local governments to deal with local public issues and this always allows people to vote with their feet which national government doesn’t.
I may be wrong about judges being a national level issue. That leaves just one thing government is good for.
In all cases, government takes from economic growth.
Remember kids, if you’re not forcing other people to hand over their hard earned at the point of a gun, you’re some kind of loner!
