Beautiful Rand. The wisdom will be lost on them, but just beautiful.
Completely agreed – we need controls on media:

The only reason to publish identities and addresses is because they want something negative to happen to the gun owners, how progressive of them.
But the guys WITH the guns are liable to come out on the top in such an altercation. And I get that what the MSM wants is for the gun people to wantonly and cruelly murder someone who is merely trying to rape, rob or kill them. Then the media can “Zimmerman” them.
And just WHO do the GUN NUTS think they ARE, doing anything like THAT!?
Then there is this map, http://mypetjawa.mu.nu/archives/214640.php#214640

Boy, some of the commenters over there make me want to cling to guns all the tighter.
*my* guns, that is.
The past few days I have been reading and talking to people about what happened in Connecticut. There have been some very thoughtful arguments put forward on why we need “reasonable” gun control and I have decided that as long as we allow the legal slaughter of children I will be unreasonable. We have dehumanized children because they have not been “born” so it is acceptable to kill them. If our society can do that to children what keeps it from doing it to me?
Until we recognize the rights of all humans I will not give up my weapons and will fight ANY restrictions or control.
Even when the rights of all humans are recognized, what would give you confidence that it was more than temporary? Governments murdering the inconvenient appears to be the historic norm.
I agree it’s a beautiful piece but some leftbots are already on board:
“But there is another possible response. This is that Americans need to learn that the rest of the world—and not just Muslims—see no sense in the First Amendment. Even other Western nations take a more circumspect position on freedom of expression than we do, realizing that often free speech must yield to other values and the need for order. Our own history suggests that they might have a point.”

I have a fondness for old science fiction. The idea of common sense publishing controls reminded me of this from Cordwainer Smith’s Norstrella.
“I revolted,” said the doctor, “without knowing it. People can say anything they want on Earth, and they can print up to twenty copies of anything they need to print, but beyond that it’s mass communications. Against the law. I knew the law. No mass communications except within government. News is the mother of opinion, opinion the cause of mass delusion, delusion the source of war. The law was plain and I thought it did not matter. I thought it was just an old law.”
